Three original productions for kids to be showcased in NYC April 19 to May 5

The New York Children's Theater Festival co-founders Michael Shawn Lewis, Chelsey Shannon, and Renee Barnett have announced the shows for its second season. This year’s selections are all original premieres: The Tale of Jamie Freel: a Faerie Story; Cheater, Cheater, Pumpkin Eater!; and Molly Bloom Lately.

SATURDAY APRIL 6 Opening Day Parade @ Prospect Park Celebrate the coming of Spring and the crack of the first bat as Brooklyn Little Leaguers and their parents march through Park Slope and into Prospect Park. The ceremonial first pitch will be at the Prospect Park Bandshell. Elska @ Symphony Space Elska is modern pioneer who discovered a secret volcanic island off of the coast of Iceland. Blending music with engaging storytelling, she shares the adventures of her high-tech yet simple life among an eclectic group of characters, including Winter Bear, The Goobler, The Nunni, The Shooshi and a vast colony of Lost Socks.
Get ready. It's a season full of fun at Field Station Dinosaurs! Field Station Dinosaurs has put together a full season of new shows, smart science talks and unexpected special events and you don't want to miss any of it. They start on Friday April 5 with Red Carpet Weekend. Join the dinosaur glitterati for nine world premieres and help christen their new movie theater with the 3D adventure Dinosaurs Alive! Play detective at "The Dino Whodunit", blast off to outer space with "Alien Rocks", and watusi away at the world's craziest "Dinosaur Dance Party".

Spring Egg Hunt @ Queents Botanical Garden Enjoy the beauty of the Garden at QBG’s first Spring Egg Hunt! Bring your own basket to collect eggs hidden in the crabapple orchard in the Arboretum. The fun continues with seasonal crafts activities for children and a special visit from Flora the Flower, QBG’s mascot!
Red Carpet Kids NYC Party Founded in 2012, Red carpet Kids is sure to give your little VIP a birthday to remember. Treat your little budding star to a party where your child and their guests get the opportunity to get styled, walk the red carpet, star in their own film and attend their personal Hollywood premiere, all set in a townhouse which has been transformed into the ultimate event space.
SATURDAY MARCH 23 Children’s Art Workshop @ Tompkins Square Library The Art Loisaida Foundation will host a wonderful children’s art workshop. All children are welcome. Kindur @ Fishman Space A fairy-tale landscape of glaciers, volcanoes and flower-filled meadows is brought to vibrant life through touch in this interactive theater experience from Italy. Children are invited on stage to trigger the sounds, images, music and colors that make up this enchanting world as three dancers take the role of kindur (“sheep” in Icelandic) to guide audiences on an immersive, magical adventure. Ages 4-10.
