Discover This Hidden Gem!

Hidden away on Restaurant Row, Family School West, for children ages 2-6, is the satellite school of The Family School on Dag Hammarskjold Plaza, now in its 48th year. FSW is a beautiful, spacious, one-room school house with an attached outdoor play area. Along with an advanced, individualized academic curriculum in a highly relaxed and peaceful Montessori setting, children are always creating art, dancing, singing, and baking. Children develop a tremendous amount of independence, critical thinking skills, creativity and confidence as they discover their passions, consider those around them, and gain a strong sense of self-efficacy. Learning is hands-on and truly fun!

From two half days to five full days, families have a multitude of schedules from which to choose, including an Extended Day program with daily specials. Winter and spring recess programs, and an awesome 11-week Summer Day Camp program, are also available at its east side location. Family School West and The Family School, for children 18 months through 12 years of age, belong to one community, with students from both locations attending its annual weeklong trip to the Adirondacks, and school fair on Dag Plaza.
