Discover this Preschool with a Difference: La joie !
La joie means joy in French, joy in learning and joy in growing at one of NYC's (and the world's) most renowned bilingual schools: Lycée Français de New York.
As international families--and American ones with a global mindset--know, when children read, speak, and write in more than one language, they open up to new perspectives and cultures, setting a course for a life at home anywhere in the world.
Why Preschool at the Lycée?
Celebrated across the world for its rigor, a French education works like a spiral. From a child's earliest years, their education has an intentional scaffolding of skills, competencies and knowledge that build upon one another year after year. The Lycée starts with these time-tested learning strategies and integrates all that families love in top New York City preschools.
In Nursery, Pre-K and Kindergarten, each class is taught by both a French-speaking and an English-speaking teacher throughout the day. Our programs balance play and structured activities, using real-world projects to engage children in the community around them. Preschoolers learn skills in reading, math and writing; and self-expression through art, music, and movement---in French and in English, with plenty of time on our rooftop playground.
With students from over 60 countries and teachers educated in the U.S., France and French-speaking countries around the world, the Lycée offers an authentic, international context for language learning and a meaningful and joyful global experience, as children (and their families!) make new friends from around the world.
Bienvenue to all !
Children do not need to speak French to join our Nursery-3 and Pre-K programs. Some knowledge of French is advised for Kindergarten, though it is not required.
