Music classes for children in the heart of the Upper East Side

At La Maison School of Music, we believe that every child deserves a joyful, inspiring introduction to the world of music. Located on the Upper East Side of Manhattan, La Maison offers thoughtfully designed music classes for kids that nurture creativity, focus, and confidence in a warm and welcoming environment.

Founded by Héloïse Pieaud, La Maison was created as a place where children can learn, explore, and express themselves through sound. Our programs are built on the belief that music education should be both structured and imaginative; blending theory, play, and emotional connection.

From a child’s first discovery of rhythm to their first stage performance, La Maison guides each student on a meaningful artistic journey.

Soon to Sound (Ages 3–6)
Our early childhood program, Soon to Sound, is the perfect start for young learners beginning their musical journey. This two-year program introduces children to rhythm, melody, and listening through games, movement, and creative exploration.

In the first year, students develop a deep connection to sound: discovering instruments, learning to listen attentively, and expressing emotions through music and movement. In the second year, they begin to compose simple melodies, identify musical families, and participate in their first group performance.

Each class encourages curiosity, imagination, and empathy. Soon to Sound builds a strong foundation for future music learning while supporting emotional and cognitive development.

1 hour group class per week

Made to Play (Ages 6–15)
As children grow, they join Made to Play, La Maison’s signature six-year program, designed to develop musical understanding and artistic confidence. Students explore a wide range of styles, from classical and jazz to film scores and popular music, learning how to read, interpret, and create music with independence.

Through group classes, private lessons, and collaborative projects, children gain practical skills in music theory, composition, and performance. They also learn to think critically about music, discovering how creativity, teamwork, and discipline come together to create art.

1 hour group class and 30 minutes private lesson per week.
