Through basic and challenging yoga poses, partner poses, group poses, yoga games, mindfulness activities, music and stories, we promote strength, flexibility, coordination, and body awareness. Breathing and visualization techniques teach focus, relaxation and self-control. The Karma Kids Yoga program also promotes inner-strength, confidence and self-esteem; a feeling of well-being and respect for others; and, love for one’s self, inside and out.

Harlem Yoga Studio is committed to being a space where the whole family can thrive! We are thrilled to offer essential tools to help young yogis during each of the various stages of development.
Through structured play we explore self control, physical expression, and compassion towards self and others.
In our Kids and Family Classes we use age appropriate stories, songs, games, art projects, and dance breaks we explore the many aspects of yoga. We engage in conversation that is specific and personal, yet community focused. In addition to teaching children healthy ways to address and explore their own bodies, we aim to create healthier perspectives of self and others inside of our community. Family classes allow for drop-ins each week, while our afterschool KIDS classes are sold in 5 or 10 class packages only to encourage consistency and allow for curriculum development week to week.

Using the 5,000 year old foundation of yoga, seasoned with a modern-day twist, we’ll inspire, empower and promote the happiest, healthiest, most shineful beings. Your child will learn the skills of yoga as an effective tool in succeeding, enjoying and really living life. Your child will develop physical skills (such as balance), coordination, flexibility and strength to increase confidence and well being, as well as developing coping skills through learning mindfulness and the use of the breath to conquer newfound challenges that accompany growing up.
Bend + Bloom Kids Yoga Classes
Bend + Bloom kids yoga classes enable kids to indulge in yoga fun while parents and caregivers enjoy their own serene practice in the adjacent studio. Alternatively, parents and children can practice together in our interactive Tots & Family classes.
Yoga is a fun way for kids to cultivate self-esteem and body awareness. By mimicking animals and shapes in nature kids develop strength, flexibility, coordination and an appreciation for our environment. Classes allow children to imagine and experience the qualities of other beings—the strength of a wise, old tree; the confidence of a lion; the grace of the wind; the speed of the F train! As kids indulge in imaginative yoga play, they learn to focus, cooperate with peers, and to use their breath to find inner calm – tools important for their daily lives.
