New York Jazz Workshop

The New York Jazz Workshop, one of NYC’s premier jazz music institutions, is now offering online weekly workshops, private lessons, and weeklong summer jazz camps for kids and teens! Instrumentalists and vocalists aged 9-16 are invited to perform and learn about jazz in an environment that is friendly, informative, and FUN! In a welcoming, safe, highly professional and non-judgmental environment, students will be encouraged to play and improvise using devices such as scales, modes, rhythms, and ensemble interaction. Classes and one-on-one lessons are led by a group of dedicated educators—Each of them talented jazz musicians in their own right, with years experience teaching music to kids and teens. Eastside Westside Music Together

All children are born with the raw materials to be musical, and our family music and movement classes give them everything they need to blossom into the music makers they were born to become! Based on cutting edge research on early childhood music development and educational practices, our classes are developmentally-appropriate and filled with the playful exploration and experimentation children need to learn and grow. Just as important, the adults have fun, too!

Our classes are meticulously designed to support the healthy development of every child’s inborn music aptitude. Our lesson plan format is carefully structured to offer multiple access points for a variety of learning styles, to scaffold and reinforce the development of music behaviors as they emerge, and to educate parents/adults about children’s music development, as well. And, in the midst of all this learning and best practices, we have a ton of fun!

KEYLAB

PRIVATE LESSONS
30, 45, or 60 minute lessons

Playing an instrument not only makes life more fun, but also offers a host of cognitive and other benefits, especially for younger students. Give your child a high quality, fun lesson experience by taking lessons in piano, guitar, voice, bass, drums, or music production.
* Children ages 5-6 may require adult assistance for most or all of the virtual lesson

SONGLAB
During School Year – Weekly 45 minute class
Summer Camp – 90 minutes per day, 5 day program

In this week-long program, kids will meet as a group with their bandleader every day to do fun activities and create their own song or podcast episode! In between daily sessions, kids can stay connected and keep the fun going together outside of class using a COPPA compliant, cloud based recording/chat platform. After their project is completed, we’ll celebrate with a viewing party at the end of the week-long program, and will also send digital copies of the project so you can share with family and friends! Scheduling is flexible, and we are happy to modify the class format to suit your group’s needs, so please contact us if you are interested in creating a custom Songlab class for your child.

We are still undecided on whether we will hold in-person classes at Keylab this summer, but all lessons and classes will be offered virtually if we are not open to the public.

Bloomingdale School of Music presents a virtual Vision Board Party on Thursday, January 28, 2021 at 6pm via Zoom. Kick off 2021 by creating your very own vision board and bring positivity to your new year. Ready to set some intentional resolutions for the new year? Then come join Bloomingdale staff to take time to craft your very own vision board! A vision board is a powerful visual tool to help create daily inspiration and remind you of your passions, dreams, and goals. Magazine clippings, stickers, pictures, quotes, and more can all be used to craft your vision board and help you make the most of the year 2021. Grab some magazines and construction paper, or anything you have around the house and join BSM staff for a fun night of crafting and mindful goal setting! The event is free for Bloomingdale students and families, with a suggested donation for all other guests. All are invited to join.
