Ballet and Art: A Worldview

Ballet technique, art and artists throughout the world:
Each day students will study classical ballet and pointe technique and choreography, and the works and times of different artists and composers throughout the world. They will create their own dance pieces inspired by these works to be performed at the end of the program. Each week we will have a trip to a different museum: The Met, The MOMA and The Guggenheim.
The program will have a strong emphasis on ballet and dance work creation and will be supplemented by complimentary classes such as drawing and workshops in other forms of dance (theatre jazz, conditioning etc.)
The program will culminate in a performance of the new student works and a lecture of what they have learned. The performance will be a fundraiser for refugees throughout the world.
At this particular moment in time, it matters that young people see themselves and different people and their cultures through the lens of dance, music and art, through the lens of our highest humanity.
Joffrey Ballet School
Joffrey Ballet School make dance fun while learning, and offer two summer camps for different age groups.
Ages 3 – 4
Dancers will explore ballet’s greatest hits with us this summer. Our amazing teachers can’t wait to dance, discover and create with you, your own version of these masterpieces. Utilizing a multi sensory approach to teaching dance, the instructors will facilitate an environment of safe movement exploration, hands on design experiences, all culminating in a dancer driven performance, of the week’s featured “Ballet”. Together you will transform the studios into a magical land filled with fairies and swan princess’, kings and queens, royal steeds and magical firebirds. We are anxious and excited to begin a journey of sharing with your young dancer the vast knowledge our faculty is eager to impart.
Ages 5 – 7
Join us for a specially designed, half day, intensive for dancers age 5-7. Your dancer will be taking class every day in ballet, jazz, improvisation, flamenco and dance repertory. Our faculty of exceptional, professional, teachers are waiting to give them the dance summer of their life. You will learn new dance styles and improve your existing skills. Dancers will have an opportunity to work with the same faculty teaching in the NYC Ballet Intensive!
American Youth Dance Theater
Summer Dance Camps at American Youth Dance Theater are an exciting and confidence building experience. From our popular Broadway Musical Theater Dance Camp for kids 7-11, to Summer Camp for younger children, there’s something for everyone!
