12 May The 48th Annual Museum Mile Festival Returns to Fifth Avenue This June
The 48th Annual Museum Mile Festival returns to Fifth Avenue this June, offering one of the best free cultural evenings in NYC. Taking place on Tuesday, June 9, from 6pm to 9pm, the much-loved event transforms a stretch of Museum Mile into a lively, car-free celebration filled with free museum entry, live performances, family activities, music, and street entertainment.
The festival route runs along Fifth Avenue from East 82nd Street to East 110th Street on Manhattan’s Upper East Side, creating a pedestrian-friendly cultural corridor lined with some of the city’s most celebrated museums and institutions.
Now in its 48th year, the festival brings together some of New York City’s most iconic museums and cultural institutions along Fifth Avenue. Participating museums include The Metropolitan Museum of Art, Neue Galerie New York, Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum, Cooper Hewitt Smithsonian Design Museum, The Jewish Museum, Museum of the City of New York, El Museo del Barrio, and The Africa Center. Neighbourhood partners including Asia Society, AKC Museum of the Dog, and The New York Academy of Medicine will also take part in the celebrations.
The atmosphere feels more like a giant NYC block party than a traditional museum event, with outdoor art activities, performances, food vendors, and crowds enjoying summer in the city. It is a fantastic opportunity for families, tourists, and locals alike to experience some of New York’s world-class cultural institutions without the usual admission costs.
