Manhattanhenge Returns This Weekend

Manhattanhenge Returns This Weekend

One of New York City’s most magical summer sights returns this weekend, as Manhattanhenge lights up the city streets with a picture-perfect sunset.

On Saturday, July 11 and Sunday, July 12, the setting sun will align with Manhattan’s street grid, creating a golden glow between the buildings. It’s one of those only-in-NYC moments that feels exciting whether you’re seeing it for the first time or making it a summer tradition.

For the best views, head to one of Manhattan’s wider east-west streets, including 14th, 23rd, 34th, 42nd or 57th Street, and look west toward New Jersey. Arrive early, as popular viewing spots can get busy, and remember that the moment itself only lasts a few minutes.

Saturday evening offers the full-sun effect at around 8:20pm, while Sunday brings the half-sun effect at around 8:21pm. As always, clear skies will make all the difference.

Pack your camera, bring the kids and enjoy one of the city’s most spectacular natural shows.
