Little Island Hosts Free Arts Activities and Workshops for Families

Little Island hosts arts activities and workshops that are free and open to families and visitors of all ages. Join in at The Glade for any one of these recurring activities when you’re looking for something fun to do.

Creative Break
Wednesdays at 11 am and 3 pm in The Glade
Thursday to Saturday at 11 am in The Glade

Join us for weekly artmaking activities for all ages with Little Island’s teaching artists. Partner organizations like the Children’s Museum of the ArtsThe New Victory TheaterThe Museum of Contemporary African Diasporan Art, and The Museum of the Chinese in America will also lead Creative Breaks throughout the season.

Art Cart
Thursdays at 3 pm in The Glade
The Art Cart is Little Island’s mobile hub for DIY artmaking. When stationed in The Glade, visitors are welcome to check out digital step-by-step instructions for featured activities to do. The Art Cart is also stocked with art supplies and movement-based games for when inspiration strikes.

Little Library
Fridays at 3 pm in The Glade
Borrow a book and take a literary break with one of our partner organizations, including The Free Black Women’s Library, Women in Comics NYC, and Teatro SEA.

New Victory LabWorks
Sundays at 3 pm in The Glade
The New Victory Theater hosts New Victory LabWorks, a space where BIPOC artists experiment and create work. This series provides a behind-the-scenes look at how artists create and develop family programming for the stage.

All events are free, but a timed entry reservation is required to enter the park from 12 pm through the remainder of the day. Reserve here.
