Design Lab: Climate Week Activities at NYSCI

Design Lab invites you to take risks, share ideas, and get new perspectives on engineering and design through design challenges, raw materials, and opportunities to engineer solutions to real-world problems.

Emergency Structures:
Learn how climate change can affect buildings and infrastructure! Work together to construct a stable structure capable of withstanding powerful natural disasters. Then, test your structures to see if they stand!

Shadow Stories:
Create your own shadow puppets to tell stories of rebuilding animal habitats and homes. Have conversations about climate change, sustainability, and resilience!

Sustainable Cities:
Design your own sustainable city! Explore city planning while using artificial intelligence to ask questions and test your urban space.

Clean It Up:
Construct a tool to help you pick up, sort, and dispose of waste. Learn about sustainability and recycling systems while making decisions on what to recycle in a low-risk environment.
