Created by Kids “About the Artist” Winter Camp

Winter is the perfect time for self-reflection, and creating art can be an important part of expressing our innermost thoughts, dreams and feelings. Our About The Artist Camp will encourage students to look inward and make artwork that is all about them! We’ll create sculptures that display our personalities in 3-D, explore surrealism and the subconscious in self-portraiture, and study artists that draw inspiration from their family members, traditions, and life at home.

We’ll find common bonds and honor our differences, celebrating the individual style that makes each of us so unique. By sharing these visual representations of themselves in a variety of mediums, students will develop new ways of understanding their emotions and surroundings, as well as creative ways to communicate their reality to others. The work they create during Winter Break Camp will act as a meaningful snapshot of this moment in their lives, while also giving them tools of expression they can use for many seasons to come.
