Nestled in the beautiful foothills of New York’s Catskill Mountains, Camp Lakota has been creating unforgettable summers and lifelong memories for over 100 years. Located on the shores of Masten Lake, Camp Lakota is more than just a summer camp; it’s a community, a tradition, and a place where children grow into confident, independent, and compassionate individuals.

At Lakota, campers unplug from screens and reconnect with what matters most: friendship, adventure, and the joy of being outdoors. Each day is filled with excitement, laughter, and opportunities to try something new while building skills that last far beyond the summer.

Our well-rounded program offers a wide variety of activities designed to meet every camper’s interests. From swimming, boating, waterskiing, and waterfront fun on our private lake, to athletics, arts & crafts, drama, outdoor adventure, and creative electives, campers are encouraged to explore passions both new and familiar. Whether scoring the winning goal, performing in a talent show, mastering a new skill, or simply laughing with cabinmates under the stars, every moment at Lakota helps build confidence and independence.

What truly sets Camp Lakota apart is our people. Our dedicated staff serve as mentors, role models, and leaders who create a warm, supportive environment where every camper feels seen, valued, and included. With strong camper-to-counselor ratios and attentive supervision, families can feel confident knowing their children are safe, supported, and cared for throughout their camp experience.

Camp Lakota welcomes boys and girls of all experience levels, including first-time campers. We understand that sleepaway camp is a big step, and our experienced leadership team works closely with families to ensure each child’s transition is positive and successful. From helping campers overcome homesickness to celebrating personal achievements, our goal is to help every child thrive.

Evenings at Lakota bring the entire camp together for traditions that campers remember for a lifetime,  campfires by the lake, themed events, spirit competitions, special performances, and unforgettable camp-wide celebrations. These shared experiences foster belonging and create bonds that often span generations. Many Lakota families return year after year, with parents sending their children to the same camp they once called home.
