“Much like guacamole itself, Rolie Polie Guacamole’s music comprises crowd-pleasing ingredients: upbeat, positive messages, interactive sets, and undeniably catchy tunes.” – The New York Times
“The bestest kindie rock band in town.” – New York Parenting
Holy Guacamole! Brooklyn’s award-winning titans of kindie music are back! With skills honed by nearly 20 years of working directly with kids and families, Rolie Polie Guacamole is excited to celebrate the release of the band’s 12th album On the Stoop with a hometown show at 10:00 a.m. on Sunday, June 1 outdoors in Prospect Park, Brooklyn, at the end of Long Meadow, near Grand Army Plaza.
“On the Stoop is an ode to Park Slope, the place Rolie Polie Guacamole has called home for more than 15 years, so it’s fitting that we honor the album’s release in the heart of the Slope, Prospect Park,” says Rolie Polie Guacamole’s Frank Gallo. “Also, since New York has a notoriously small window of time when the weather is ideal, we decided to take advantage of that window and perform outdoors, so families can enjoy the beauty of the park while having fun at the show.”
Through the years, the atmosphere at Rolie Polie Guacamole shows has developed an almost Phish- or Ween-like vibe. With 12 albums’ worth of material (and a 13th album due out this fall), most fans have their own favorite songs. Audience members often dictate the set lists, shouting out song requests throughout each show. As a result, no two Rolie Polie Guacamole shows are ever the same, and the band has perfected the art of tailoring each performance to the audience that is in front of them.
In Prospect Park on June 1, Rolie Polie Guacamole will play two sets to allow for maximum guacamole, with a small break in between where fans can meet the band and scoop up the new album. Performing at this show will be Frank Gallo (vocals, guitar), Andrew Tuzhilin (vocals, bass), and Rossen Nedelchev (drums).
