The cancellation last year surprised many. For the first time in about two decades, the multi-minute light and music show that illuminates Saks’ Fifth Avenue flagship was paused. The company cited a financially rocky year and cost-cutting measures as the reason. While the building’s façade remained lit and the holiday windows were still presented, the full choreographed display was missing, leaving a noticeable gap in the city’s festive season.

This year promises a true comeback. Saks will once again transform its store at 611 Fifth Avenue into a beacon of holiday cheer, with the return of its nightly choreographed light and music show. As always, the display will take place just across from the Rockefeller Center Christmas Tree, making the corner one of the most festive spots in the city. The elaborately themed holiday windows will also return, unveiled in late November and remaining on view through early January.

Exact dates for the show have not yet been announced, but Saks has confirmed that the display will run every evening from early evening through about 11 p.m., with the light show repeating every few minutes. As in years past, there will be brief pauses in the schedule on certain nights, including Christmas Eve and the evening of the Rockefeller Center tree lighting.
