Where curiosity is the curriculum
At KinderHaus, we believe three things make childhood extraordinary: Taking Risks Inspired by Montessori, children are given real choices within clear, consistent principles which create the security that allows them to take risks, and develop emotional intelligence, self esteem and personal agency. A child may raise their hand to share a bold answer during circle time, even if they’re unsure it’s correct, confidently experiment with numbers while baking bread, measure time during a flight project, or challenge a classmate’s patterns in block play. When children feel secure in their environment and in their relationships, they are free to test ideas, speak their truth, and resolve conflicts with growing independence. This is how resilience begins.
Environments that Teach
The magic is in provoking questions, that’s how our classroom flows and generates impact on children. Materials are open-ended and nature is our canvas. A puddle becomes a physics lab. A caterpillar sparks a literacy circle. A shadow cast on a wall invites a study of angles and light. At Kinderhaus, the classrooms, gardens, and wild spaces ask just as many questions as the teachers do. Children document discoveries with drawing, dictation, graphs, and shared storytelling. Children, teachers, and space learn together in a living dialogue. Inspired by Reggio, we see the child as competent and curious. This is how inquiry becomes a way of life.
Wonder at the Heart of Learning
A child traces the arc of a falling leaf, hears the rhythm in their footsteps, paints the phases of the moon or tells a story through puppetry. These moments are how art, literacy, math and science converge through emotion and experience. We protect time for children to fall in love with ideas slowly, deeply, and beautifully. Like Froebel’s “garden of childhood,” and Waldorf’s reverence for imagination, we believe learning blooms through wonder, not rush. Here numbers are baked into recipes and poetry lives in puppet theater. Rich oral language, emergent writing, and artistic expression anchor cross-disciplinary learning that respects developmental rhythms.
What sets us apart
For nearly two decades, KinderHaus has built a reputation for deep respect for childhood and commitment to nurturing each child’s natural curiosity, independence, and sense of belonging.
What makes us unique:
- All of our teachers are professionally trained early childhood educators with strong pedagogical backgrounds.
- Full German immersion that connects children to a new language and culture.
- Play-based, inquiry-driven learning that follows children’s questions into math, science, literacy, and art.
- A warm, mixed-age community that fosters belonging, responsibility, and honoring the uniqueness of each individual.
- We don’t separate logic from wonder or freedom from structure. Instead, we cultivate lifelong learners who feel rooted, seen, and inspired to grow.
