
PhysFest NYC – Family Shows & Free Kids Workshops
Broken Box Mime Theater’s third annual PhysFest NYC presents a number of family-friendly shows and kid-friendly events during their 10-day physical theater festival from January 10-18, 2026 at Stella Adler Center for the Arts (65 Broadway Floor 2, NYC, 10006).
PhysFestNYC is a one-of-a-kind community-led festival that celebrates, enriches, and envisions the field of physical theater. Family-friendly shows include:
Liars & Believers Ensemble’s “Yellow Bird Chase” for ages 2+ and fully accessible to Deaf and hard of hearing community, as well as non-English speakers.
“The Adventures of Beastie,” an interactive show for kids 8+, performed by Del Gonzales and Eva Pearlman.
Soft Brain Theatre Company’s “Spork & Gimble Lose Their Cheese” & “Tippy Topwell Dances Around the Subject” – a music-infused, Commedia dell’Arte-inspired play for all ages.
STEMmersive’s “Ms. Information Expert Lecture Series” – an interactive work-in-progress show for kids 5-12 with post-show feedback from the kids.
The Free Kids Hour at PhysFestNYC welcomes children of all ages to join our physical theatre professionals in a fun hour of movement, physical expression, and theatre making. This workshop provides children with a safe, positive, and engaging environment, allowing them to tap into their own creativity.
Spellbound Theatre’s “A Shadow Puppetry Adventure for the Whole Family” is a playful, hands-on workshop inviting families to explore light and shadow and craft their own colorful sea creature puppet to bring imaginative stories to life.
