Little New-Yorkers: The Gift of the Great Buffalo
This November we are celebrating Indigenous Heritage Month by reading some of our favorite stories by Indigenous authors and illustrators! Rose is a young Métis-Ojibwe girl living with her family on the prairie in the 1860s. In the Gift of the Great Buffalo, written by Carole Lindstrom and illustrated by Aly McKnight, Rose joins with other Métis families for the biannual buffalo hunt, but this year, the buffalo are not easy to find. Come hear Rose’s story and after the read-aloud, make your own buffalo tacks artwork inspired by Aly McKnight’s illustrations!
