Weaving Wonders with Artist Korina Emmerich

One of the most cherished traditions of many Indigenous communities is weaving. Learn basic weaving skills as we create a collaborative contemporary art installation with hanging artworks crafted alongside Brooklyn-based Puyallup artist and designer Korina Emmerich.

Join Mvskoke cultural worker and educator Liana Shewey for stories and activities in honor of Indigenous Heritage Month. Our interactive storytime will invite you to celebrate the changing of the seasons with a read-aloud of Autumn: A Picture Book by Mvskoke author Alexander Posey and illustrations by Salish artist Paige Pettibon. Following the reading, explore instruments, photographs, and other cultural heritage objects.

Create your own metallic animal pendant or pin using foil, yarn, and clay and honor your favorite animals. Learn about the significance of animals in the work of many Indigenous artists, such as Mary Anne Barkhouse, Kenojuak Ashevak, and more.
