11 May Child’s Play NY Summer Program

Child’s Play NY theater camps are right for both the child who passionately dreams of being on stage and the one who is simply looking for a joy-filled summer program! These award-winning theater classes empower young people to develop themselves and their skills. Sessions prioritize courage and compassion through dramatic arts education: students are given free rein to their imaginations and creative impulses while they learn sophisticated technique from professional performers in a supportive and inclusive environment.

Adventure Series | 3K-PreK
In programs for the youngest players, campers channel their own superpowers for rescue missions, epic dances and good old-fashioned silliness. Programs are led by expert theater artists, trained in early childhood education and skilled at centering kids’ imaginative adventures. These sessions help kids work collaboratively, practice empathy, and gain confidence in a joyful setting…pure fun! Camp culminates in a video sharing for families, premiering the Monday after camp.

Camps run weekly, Aug 5 – Aug 30. Themes include Ocean Adventures, Superheroes On Stage, Gruffalo & Co and Unicorns and Dragons.

Camps meet at 193 Columbia Street in Carroll Gardens from 9a-12p.

Players Series | PreK-1st Grade
Campers escape into fantastic realms this summer through great stories, creative movement and games galore! Led by professional actors, they flex their imaginative muscles and learn theater skills that inspire self-confidence and community. Whether solving a mythic mystery, helping a character by way of a scavenger hunt, rehearsing a new scene or having a dance-off…joyful collaboration is at the center of it all. Campers celebrate with a movie of their original scenes, music videos and games, premiering online the Monday after camp.

Programs run weekly, July 29-Aug 30. Themes include Camp Encanto, Matilda James & Charlie, Trolls Adventures, Frozen Adventures and Magic Tree House.

Camps meet at 232 Carroll Street in Carroll Gardens from 9a-3p.

Showmakers Series | Grades 2-6
These ensembles jump into the rehearsal process with a focus on original story creation and scripted scene study. We meet each actor where they are, and build a company of skilled performers; centering bravery, imagination and truthfulness. Improvisation and theater games help stoke creativity, develop the company and the spirit of play. Taught by master teachers and performers at the top of their field, kids learn skills that will serve them the rest of their creative lives. Camp culminates in a live performance for families on Friday afternoon.

Programs run July 22-Aug 30 in Brooklyn Heights and Fort Greene. Themes include Descendants Drama, Hogwarts School, Intergalactic Odyssey, Mystery in the Mansion, Mythology Players, Epic Quest Camp, Roald Dahl Scene Study, Sci Fi Science Fair.

Camps in Brooklyn Heights meet at 121 Pierrepont Street from 9a-3p.
