New York Theatre Ballet School: Teaching dance as a total art form since 1978
For over 45 years, New York Theatre Ballet School has developed its young dancers by following the Cecchetti syllabus, a method that emphasizes musicality, theatricality, gesture and style. Well-trained Cecchetti dancers have purity of line and simplicity of style that adapts to professional performance companies everywhere.
Small class size guarantees highly individualized instruction, with teaching assistants in every class. For qualified students, the NYTB Company provides ongoing, professional performing experience in ballets featuring roles for children. For the advanced and professional level student classes in modern, theater dance, pointe, variations and repertory round out the training curriculum.
Pre-Ballet Summer Workshops, Ages 5-7:
For kids who like to move! NYTB School’s Pre-Ballet Summer Workshops will spark imagination and develop coordination for a lifelong love of dance. If your child is ready for an intro to ballet, this program will keep them engaged with rhythm, creativity, and fun! Themed weekly workshops are held Monday through Thursday mornings in our East Village studio. Classes include ballet, creative movement, crafts & activities, and more. No audition is required for pre-ballet students, so sign up today!

Summer Intensive for the Young Dancer, Ages 8-12:
This immersive 2-week program is designed to develop young artists and inspire a love of dance. Classes are held Monday through Friday with a performance on the final day. In addition to daily ballet class, the schedule includes alternating days of Modern and Jazz Dance, plus an enrichment class of choreography, guest lecturers, and field trips to NYC cultural institutions such as Radio City Music Hall, the Museum of Modern Art, and the New York Public Library for the Performing Arts. Early drop-off and late pick-up available.
