Unirondack is a radically inclusive summer camp community in the Western Adirondacks offering camp sessions and wilderness trips for youth ages 8-18, and a variety of programs for adults and families. We are a progressive and open-minded organization driven by curiosity, social justice values, and a commitment to youth empowerment. We embrace silliness, celebrate authentic self-expression, teach empathetic community building, and invite youth to create their own unique experience at camp.

Our campers enjoy an opportunity to get outside and unplug in a beautiful old-growth Adirondack waterfront setting with swimming, boating, arts and crafts, a ceramic studio, recording studio, performing arts centre, athletic field, library, board game room, great food, and a brand new selection of incredible programs every single day. But we offer so much more than that.

At Unirondack, campers learn how to build and be a part of a healthy community. They participate in discussions to decide how camp is run, and work together to create community guidelines. While other camps usher their campers through a structured set of scheduled activities, Unirondack campers choose their own programs from a wide range of active, silly, artsy, theatrical, nerdy, outdoorsy, sciencey, musical, messy, discussion-based, and social justice focussed options.

Inventiveness runs rampant. We are a community of creative risk takers. We offer about 65 totally original programs every week, born out of the wild imaginations of our talented staff and brought to life with the help of our curious and enthusiastic campers. Everyone at Unirondack is free to choose the activities and programs that spark their interest, and there is always something for everyone. That’s what makes every week at Unirondack a totally unique, one-of-a-kind experience for every participant. Want to build a full-size working canoe out of spaghetti? You can. Want to conduct a wedding ceremony for an earthworm throuple? You can. Want to sew pockets into your clothing while critiquing the clothing industry? You can. Want to climb an Adirondack mountain peak? You can. Want to become an expert in watercolors? You can. Want to set up a market stand to sell your fanart in exchange for painted pinecones? You can. Want to play DnD all day in a banana costume? You can.

Though we take pride in the creativity and abundance of our activities, Unirondack is more than its activities. It is a place where many people feel completely at home for the first time in their lives. At Unirondack we are a community founded in love, growth, laughter, and celebration of difference. No one gets left behind. Everyone feels supported in the project of self-discovery. Everyone gets to experience the magic of belonging.

Our youth programs make up the heart and center of what we do – but Unirondack is a lifelong community. We are proud to offer a wide range of adult and intergenerational programs for those seeking a more enriching, community-based experience than a standard vacation.
