Teen Studio at The Met – Illustrating Our Stories (Ages 12–14)

Join this illustration workshop and discover how artists like John Wilson use drawing, illustration, and literature to tell visual stories and create art for social change. Explore the exhibition Witnessing Humanity: The Art of John Wilson, then practice illustration techniques to depict moments from your personal life, current events, or literary works and receive feedback from a teaching artist and your peers. Be inspired by John Wilson’s work as a children’s book and magazine illustrator, and learn how his art, such as his depictions of the Civil Rights Movement, responded to the turbulent times in which he lived.

Presented in conjunction with the exhibition Witnessing Humanity: The Art of John Wilson.

Free, though advance registration is recommended. Museum admission is free for teens as part of this program. All experience levels welcome; all materials provided.
