28 Jun Brooklyn Music School’s Youth Summer Camps
Brooklyn Music School’s Youth Summer Camps offer engaging and affordable experiences in music, dance, and theatre for children ages 5 – 12. Families can enroll for one week or up to seven weeks, with three structured two-week sessions recommended for the best experience. Each session features a Friday field trip in the first week and a showcase performance in the second week. The program runs 9 AM – 3:30 PM, with an extended day option until 6 PM.
For children ages 5-8, the Summer Institute Music & Dance Camp introduces a variety of arts programming, including Piano & Musicianship, Dance, World Percussion, and Acting.
For students ages 9-12, our Summer Intensives provide focused training in Dance, Music Production & Songwriting, Orchestra, Jazz, Musical Theatre, and Rock Band! The Intensives provide students with the opportunity to hone their skills while collaborating with peers and experienced teaching artists.
We are also offering two special one-week offerings for young adults looking for a more serious and immersive opportunity. The Jazz Workshop runs July 7th – 11th and provides musicians ages 11 – 18 the opportunity to deep dive into improvisation, ensemble playing, and jazz vocabulary. Led by BMS Jazz Department Chair Jeff Newell, students will study jazz theory, listen to classic performances, and develop improvisation techniques. The week includes daily masterclasses and culminates in a community performance, providing valuable real-world experience.
For teens ages 13-18, we are excited to announce our new Teen Week, an immersive program running August 18th – 22nd. This experience offers high school students the opportunity to refine their artistic practice through collaborative projects, advanced technical training, and mentorship from professional artists. Running from 10:30 AM – 3:30 PM, students can choose between the Indie Artist Workshop track or the Music Production & Recording Workshop. The week culminates in a showcase performance at the BMS Playhouse.
