Visit Governors Island this Summer

If you are planning a day out with the family soon, then a trip to Governors Island should be on your list of places to go.

Governors Island is a 172 acre island in the heart of New York Harbor, only 800 yards from Lower Manhattan, and even closer to Brooklyn. It is easily accessible by ferry, and is open to the public during the summer with lots of events on the calendar.
Special programs run on Saturdays and Sundays throughout the summer season – click HERE for schedule. Pop the Family Fun Day in your diary (May 28), and Figment Festival too (June 3 & 4).
On the island you can cycle, get wet in the play fountains, or enjoy play:groundNYC (a 50,000 square foot junkyard playground which is free and open to the public every weekend). New this year is The Hills – offering breathtaking never-before-seen views of the Statue of Liberty and New York Harbor.
Pack a picnic, hop on the ferry, and enjoy everything that Governors Island has to offer!
Season runs from May 1 – October 1.
