Bid so long to summer on New York City’s own paradise isle.

For the spirited young artist, Summer Art Colony on Governors Island provides a traditional summer camp experience situated within an urban oasis. All day camps take place in a historic 19th century officers’ home in leafy Nolan Park. Select spots still available.

Classes run from 9-5 pm.

Tiny Islands: Art in Miniature
August 26-30 – ages 7-12

Celebrate summer by creating tiny worlds with a tropical twist! Young artists will develop techniques using clay, cardboard, and other materials to create tiny sculptures and their own model world.

Documentary Filmmaking
August 26-30 – ages 7-12

Budding filmmakers will get the chance to write and produce their own environmental documentary in collaboration with the Climate Museum! The class will learn about different storytelling techniques such as live action, stopmotion, interviews, and narration.

Landscape Painting
September 3-6 – ages 6-11

With the natural surroundings of New York City as their guide, young artists will learn to use a variety of mediums, such as modeling clay, acrylic, and watercolors, to represent the energetic scenes around them.
