Fun For Families This Weekend in NYC: Nov 21 & 22

As we edge towards the holidays, there are many enjoyable things for our kids to do in the city. We’ve pulled together some great happenings in NYC this weekend to keep your little ones having fun.

Egg Drop!
November 21 (1pm – 2:39pm)
Alley Pond Environmental Center, Queens
Cost: $29
Grades 4th–6th

The success of our Building Bridges program has made us decide to create another engineering course! Try your luck in creating a protective case for an egg that will be dropped off our porch! Will your protective case be “Well Done” or will your egg get “Scrambled?” Do you have what it takes to protect your egg against the harsh realities of gravity? This program will be held primarily indoors and partially outdoors.

Students are required to wear masks for the entire program. Limited to 8 participants.

Liza Lou’s life-sized kitchen took five years to make! She covered every surface with over thirty million tiny glass beads. Everything sparkles—from the cherry pie to the dust and broom.

Family Art Project: Heartwood Heartbeat Wreaths
November 21 & 22
Wave Hill, 4900 Independence Ave, The Bronx, NY 10471
Free with admission

Wreaths have a long history serving as decorative and protective symbols. Using sticks and evergreen tips from trees felled by storms in Wave Hill’s woodlands, create a wreath of all that you hold close to your heart. Then, leave messages from your heart to the heartwood, the dense most inner part of a tree. We’ll use leftover branches to hang ornaments on an evergreen tree that will stand on Wave Hill’s Conifer Slope to protect us through winter and create ornaments to bring warmth to the Wave Hill house as part of our winter decor.
