Japanese for Kids

Learn Japanese through a series of fun, interactive courses designed just for kids! This spring, we are offering new exploratory sessions for children ages 3-5 and 6-10.

These courses will be conducted online via Zoom. To participate fully, you will need access to a device with internet, microphone, and camera (such as a laptop, smartphone, or tablet). Further instructions will be provided before the course begins in February. Please note that all times listed are New York time (ET).

Japanese for Kids: 3-5 Year Olds

Young learners explore Japanese language and culture through a seasonal and theme-based curriculum filled with storytelling, songs, games and interactive activities (PDF). Children will gain basic vocabulary and understanding through fun, online activities.

Tuition: $165/$125 Japan Society members. Adult accompaniment required. Space is limited to 12 students: advanced registration required. Registration opens Wednesday, December 9.

Using a theme-based curriculum, children will learn everyday Japanese through a variety of age-appropriate activities, games, songs, and engaging activities. In addition to listening, speaking, basic reading and writing skills are introduced in a fun and supportive environment.

Tuition: $165/$125 Japan Society members. Adult accompaniment recommended. Space is limited to 10 students: advanced registration required. Registration opens Wednesday, December 9.
