CMA’s Inclusive Saturday Classes for Children with an Autism Spectrum Disorder

Online, hosted by Children’s Museum of the Arts

CMA’s Inclusive Saturday Classes provide a free opportunity for children with an Autism Spectrum Disorder and their family. CMA Teaching Artists are trained in facilitating structured workshops that are specifically designed to help children with Autism develop social skills, creative problem-solving, and expression through art. The program’s supportive environment also helps strengthen family ties and builds a sense of community for families affected by Autism.

UPCOMING FREE CLASSES:-

June 12, 2021 – 10:30am – 11.10am via Zoom
Children ages 1-7 years old with an Autism Spectrum Disorder and their families

Led by Tom Burnett, CMA’s Director of stART Studio and Early Childhood Education, these free virtual classes encourage children to explore different art mediums through sensory experiences, music, and movement activities. Children build motor skills and self-regulated independence and social skills while connecting with siblings and caregivers.

Model Magic Sculptures
Have plenty of Model Magic clay on hand as we mold shapes and add our favorite materials. Once finished, our sculptures can hang from a doorway or decorate your home!

June 12, 2021, 11am – 12pm via Zoom
Children ages 8-15 years old with an Autism Spectrum Disorder and their families

This free class uses art-making to build peer-to-peer relationships in a virtual setting. Families will look closely at artwork as inspiration for creating individual pieces while exploring with household art materials.

Clay Plant Creations
Explore the many ways to mold clay to create one-of-a-kind sculptures! Inspired by trees and flowers, families will explore clay sculpture techniques and make a clay sculpture of their own flora, fauna, or never-before-seen natural creation!
