DESCRIPTION:New York’s classical music station WQXR (105.9 FM and wqxr.org) heads to the University of Mount Saint Vincent in the Bronx for the next edition of the Classical Kids Fair, on Sunday, September 27. This beloved event provides a fun introduction to classical music for children ages 3-8 through engaging live performances, workshops, arts and crafts, and other hands-on experiences. 
This edition of the Classical Kids Fair will feature performances from the Bronx Arts Ensemble Woodwind Quintet, students from the University of Mount Saint Vincent Conservatory and FMDG Music School, and an interactive program from Rami Vamos and the Bayberry String Quartet. The Literary Freedom Project will explore the life of Thomas “Blind Tom” Wiggins, a formerly enslaved musical prodigy, with a book reading and live music performed by pianist Kyle P. Walker.
The fair will also bring a wide variety of hands-on activities throughout the day. This includes the hallmark “Instrument Discovery Zones,” allowing children to get close to violins, ukuleles and percussion instruments, as well as a make your own instrument craft station. There will also be an African dance workshop with live drumming and a hip hop dance workshop, led by the Bronx Arts Ensemble; a composition workshop led by Rami Vamos;  family singalongs with Siobhan O’Malley from Heart & Beat Music; storytime with the New York Public Library; and a “Dress Up Like A Composer” station.
